Harvest Thanksgiving from Sunday 22nd September, 2024
Welcome to our Harvest Thanksgiving - this service was recorded at South Street Baptist Church in Exeter on Sunday 22nd September. The service is led by all three of our ministry team, Ross, Peter and Simon, and includes favourite harvest hymns. In our Harvest Service, we offer harvest gifts for the work of St Petrocks, who support those affected by homelessness in our city. Our theme for this year's Harvest is "Living towards a vision" - Simon reflects on the reality of the climate crisis and how this must be the responsibility of all age groups in society, not something the old delegate to the young to fix. The Bible gives a vision of creation at peace with all creatures living in harmony with each other and the earth renewed. This vision gives us hope now and encourages us to be persistent and resilient in our care for the earth. We are to live towards this vision of peace now and allow it to permeate our lifestyles and behaviour so earth anticipates it today. The service includes: Welcome and Call to Worship Hymn Come, you thankful people, come Opening Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer Reading: Mark 4.26-29 Offering our Harvest Gifts Hymn Morning has broken Prayer for Others Hymn We plough the fields and scatter Reading: Isaiah 11.1-9 Talk Living towards a Vision Offering and Dedication Hymn Heaven shall not wait Blessing Our closing music is played by Mary Ellis, one of our organists.
