First Tenkara Trip of 2020 - Sierra tenkara fishing for browns and rainbows
Finally! After 9 months of not getting to tenkara fly-fish, my buddy Mike Willis and I hit the mountains for some Sierra tenkara fishing and played... and we played hard! Each of us had double digit day of catching rainbow and brown trout, and by the end of the day we were both pooped! We hit two bodies of water today in the Sierra Nevada range and enjoyed using our Tenkara USA Sato rods to take on some trout. The Sato proved to be the ideal Sierra tenkara rod. You can see the Sato here: https://shop.tenkarausa.com/collectio... It has been 9 months since this boy last fished. September 2019 on vacation to be exact. Then in October 2019 I had 2 trade shows, November 2019 local trout season closed until last Saturday of April, Winter, 3 more trade shows in January & February 2020, then Covid-19, plus allergy issues that can prevent me from being able to fish. After 9 months did I lose my skill of wading rivers with slippery rocks... ask my shins... see picture below. haha. Yeh I was one wobbly piece of work. After 9 months did I forget how to tenkara.... no I did not. haha. Both Mike and I had double digit day of Rainbows and Browns. The shin being beat (the Little Presents gaiters I wear handled the brunt of it but yeh it still hurt). A spot of whiskey when I arrived home will cure the discomfort. I hope you enjoy this video of how I prepared for my 1st tenkara outing of 2020.
