Flower seedling check and winter sowing
The first round of indoor seedlings are taking right off. The dianthus was first to germinate and is filling it's tray fastest, the lisianthus is up but miniscule, and the columbine is taking it's sweet time (not surprising). A few varieties didn't fare well but overall things are looking good. Spent a few hours sowing lots of flower seeds, and a little lettuce, into trays in our cattle panel tunnel/greenhouse. I've been experimenting with this for a few years and I'd like to think I'm honing in on the species that perform best in this setup. Yarrow is my top recommendation if you want to try this for yourself, I've had great success with it for several years in a row now. I also sowed campanula, sweet peas, larkspur, hollyhocks, poppies, clarkia, bee balm and more. With a little care and luck that'll translate to hundreds of plants in a few months!
