First Reading: Isaiah 7: 10-14; 8: 10 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 40: 7-8a, 8b-9, 10, 11 Second Reading: Hebrews 10: 4-10 Verse Before the Gospel: John 1: 14ab Gospel: Luke 1: 26-38 In our Gospel today, we remember the account when the angel Gabriel announced the good news to Mary, who was chosen to be the mother of our Savior Jesus Christ. Our Lady, knowing her situation and the possible persecution she could face, continued to trust in God and said yes to the mission!   Mary’s yes to God’s call to be the mother of His Son Jesus Christ is an example and reminder for us all who desire to follow our God—that we need to focus on and trust in God, more than ourselves. God’s mission will always be fulfilled by His own power, through the Holy Spirit, as mentioned by angel Gabriel. Our work is not to prove that we can do it, and that we are worthy of God’s trust, but rather to prove that God can do it and He is worthy of our trust! This is the 1796th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: Let us listen to our brother Lawrence Quintero, a member of the CFC International Council, as he brings us today's reflection. All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
