Job 29-31 // Experiencing God 365 Days Through the Bible, Day 11

Have you ever known anyone in your community who was very respected and loved and within a short time they became someone who was mocked and laughed at? We’ll see Job’s account of this in Job 29-31 But first, welcome to Experiencing God 365 days through the bible, Day 11 Job 29-31 Today we will break this segment of scripture into 2 sections: Job absolutely broken and his final protest of his innocence. Job misses God’s friendship Job 29:2-4 “I long for the years gone by when God took care of me, 3 when he lit up the way before me and I walked safely through the darkness. 4 When I was in my prime, God’s friendship was felt in my home. He reminisces about how respected he was in the community He was well liked and highly thought of People came to him for advice He helped those In need He was a man of great honor. Job 29:14 Everything I did was honest. Righteousness covered me like a robe, and I wore justice like a turban. He continues on in Job 30 about his anguish Compares how people used to see him as wise counsel and now they mock him, How his honor has disappeared like the wind Speaks of depression and pain He speaks about his destruction and attributes it to God Job 29:20-23 “I cry to you, O God, but you don’t answer. I stand before you, but you don’t even look. 21 You have become cruel toward me. You use your power to persecute me. 22 You throw me into the whirlwind and destroy me in the storm. 23 And I know you are sending me to my death— the destination of all who live. Now we know this is not true, but Job truly believes that God has abandoned him and seen him as an enemy. He is broken and devastated. Job 30:27 My heart is troubled and restless. Days of suffering torment me. Chapter 31 is Jobs Final Protest of Innocence He continues to maintain his innocence. He denies that he has coveted or lusted after his neighbors possessions or wife. Stands firm that he has helped the poor and the needy, taken care of his servants, and has never made an idol over anything. What stood out to you today? In chapter 29 when Job is longing for God’s friendship and calling out to God, it touched me. I don’t know about you but I’ve been in a place before where I was like God please just show me your face. Show me your real. Show me you see me. And Now that I have communion with Him, I cant imagine not having that. And so Job was someone who had fellowship with God and then when he was searching, couldn’t find him. But don’t worry. God will reveal himself to Job. Just as he will reveal himself to you. Like, comment, share, subscribe God loves you. He sees you. He has a plan for you. I pray the Holy Spirit ministered to you through this. Tomorrow we will continue on to Job 32-34.
