NYPD commissioner calls DA bail change "one more obstacle" for New Yorkers
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance announced some bail changes Wednesday in an effort to alleviate crowding at the troubled Rikers Island. NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea spoke with the PIX11 Morning News on Thursday to share his thoughts on the move and how it might effect the department and officers. Shea also spoke on a tragic trend of teenagers being shot and killed on New York streets, which he called the "real crisis" happening now. Additionally, the commissioner shared how the NYPD will handle potential shortages of school safety officers once the city's vaccine mandate goes into effect for city employees.
