Tenth Sunday after Pentecost July 28, 2024 AS WE GATHER As tempting as it might be, and as the summer season may well dictate, for the baptized and redeemed of Jesus there is never a time simply to sit back. The call to discipleship is an ongoing one, a “long obedience in the same direction.” (Petersen) Yet, as we graze in the pasturelands of God, we are granted moments of refreshment. God’s Word and precious Sacraments make us strong, and keep us faithful, even when all around us seems to be in chaos. This is faith’s foundation: the assurance that we are God’s children through faith in His Son, an assurance that forms and shapes us as God’s people. Rejoice in His promise. You are His.
