Potential Recruits Get Inside Look at What it's Like to Become a Police Officer

COLUMBUS (Ben Garbarek) -- The Columbus Division of Police is trying to become younger and more diverse by attracting more "millennials." Officers held a job fair at the Columbus Police Academy to attract new recruits. Officers tried to give potential cadets a taste of what it's like to be an officer, by having them run through obstacle courses, box, and even try on police gear. "It's something I've been thinking about for a short while," said potential recruit Vanessa Demopoulos. "This was a better way of getting involved with it." Officers said they want to make their force look more like the community they are sworn to protect. "We need to change with the times," said Commander Rhonda Grizzell. We're trying to show them how many opportunities are here." If you missed the expo, you can still possibly be a part of the latest class at the academy.
