Andy Braitman Encaustics Painting Part 1
Andy Braitman from Braitman Studios in Charlotte, NC, explains in this Part 1 of Encaustic Painting, how to layout the basic design. He is working on a Joe's Prime Extra Fine Artboard (http://bit.ly/Re85wh) and is melting the R&F encaustic blocks (http://bit.ly/PB8871) on the hotplate (http://bit.ly/TuSsjS) and using them to sketch directly on the panel. He begins to cover the gessoed surface with more and more pigment creating a basic idea from which to work from. Andy is using the Catalyst Silicone No. 5 Blade (http://bit.ly/UvA1KM) to apply the melted wax to the substrate, as well as, pouring the liquid pigment directly from the hot tins. Andy is able to clean the tools by soaking in melted soy wax (http://bit.ly/TthQEz). Watch all of the segments of the Encaustic Series with Andy Braitman here on the Cheap Joe's You Tube Channel!
