Father Marcelo López, Gospel of Luke 11:5-13. "The heavenly Father will give you the Holy Spirit."

Reflection taken from the Holy Mass presided over by Father Marcelo López, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from the parish of Santa María del Vergel in Cuenca, Ecuador. GOSPEL Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 11:5-13. At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “Suppose one of you has a friend who comes at midnight and says, ‘Please lend me three loaves of bread, for a friend of mine has come on a journey, and I have nothing to offer him. ’ But the other answers from inside, ‘Don’t bother me. I can’t get up and give them to you, for the door is already shut, and my children and I are in bed. ’ If the other continues knocking, I tell you, even if he doesn’t get up and give them to him because he is his friend, yet because of his annoying persistence, he will get up and give him as much as he needs. So I say to you: ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For whoever asks receives; whoever seeks finds; and to whoever knocks, it will be opened. Is there a father among you who, when his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or when he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? Or when he asks for an egg, will give him a Scorpion? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?” Word of the Lord//Glory to You, Lord Jesus.
