Lawn grass doesn’t provide much habitat for your local ecosystem. So my brother converted a portion of his backyard into a native Prairie by adding dozens of different species of flowering plants that are native to where he lives. They require virtually no care since they evolved here and they provide a tremendous number of invertebrate species habitat which in turn help feed animals, like birds, higher up the food chain.
