Paul Bremer said the fighters had failed to intimidate coalition forces and so had changed tactics He was referring to a series of recent attacks including two car bombs last weekend at police stations, the assassination on Saturday of a police colonel and the killing on Sunday of a police chief near Baghdad. VOICEOVER: 00.00 UPSOUND (English) "US forces, come out" 00.05 Troops swoop on houses in the town of Udain, just north of Baghdad. 00.10 They're looking for weapons ... 00.12 ... and before long they're successful. 00.17 Along with rifles they find detonators, batteries and other bomb-making materials. 00.25 UPSOUND of soldier saying "Is there a limit on wires and electronic components you can have?" 00.28 UPSOUND of plastic handcuffs being put on suspect 00.34 Eleven people are detained. 00.40 SOUNDBITE: (English) Colonel David Hope: "(We have) got a lot of bad people we're looking for. We'll continue to push them down. We'll do more joint operations with the Iraqi police. We are still recovering from the car bomb we had the other day, but the Iraqi police are doing well." 00.53 On Saturday, a car bomb exploded by the police station in nearby Baqouba. 00.58 Four policemen were killed. 01.02 The US chief administrator in Iraq says the attack shows the fighters are changing tactics. 01.09 SOUNDBITE: (English), Ambassador Paul Bremer, US Chief Administrator in Iraq: "The former regime loyalists and jihadists have always pursued a policy of intimidation. They have failed to intimidate the coalition.
