Ordination - chant during laying of hands and invocation of the Holy Spirit
In the Syriac Orthodox Church the service ordination to priesthood is always conducted in the middle of the Holy Qurbono after the Holy Body and Holy Blood are consecrated. The deacon to be ordained as a priest kneels on the south side of the darga [small step infront of the Thronos] infront of the consecrated Holy Body and Holy Blood. The archdeacon lifts the end of the fayno [കാപ്പാ ] of the Bishop and covers the candidate for ordination with the Bishop's fayno. The Bishop stands on the dargo and waves his hands over the Holy Body and Holy Blood 9 times. The archdeacon then immediately covers the palms of the Bishop with a kabilana [തിരുശരീര രക്തങ്ങൾ വഹിക്കുന്ന കാസായും പീലാസായും മൂടുന്ന കബിലാനാ ]. The Bishop then brings his hands over the candidate to be ordained. At that time the archdeacon removes the kabilana from the Bishop's palms and the Bishop then places his hands on the head of the candidate . He then waves his hands over the head of the candidate and blessing the candidate. This is also done 9 times. This hymn is chanted during this time.
