(10 Mar 2015) FOR CLEAN VERSION SEE STORY NUMBER: 2050121 Iraqi armed forces said on Tuesday they had retaken control of the strategic town of Garma in their advance towards Fallujah, which is held by the Islamic State group. Garma is 20 kilometres south of Fallujah and 40 kilometres west of Baghdad. Video obtained from a freelance camera operator showed Iraqi forces in the area. The video also showed Brigadier General Hussein Mohsen, commander of the 11th division on the ground and a member of the Iraqi armed forces declaring they had "liberated" the district. Islamic State (IS) militants took control of the city last January, months before they seized large swaths of territory in the north and west of the country. IS currently controls about a third of Iraq and Syria.
