“After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking questions. And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.” - Luke 2:46-47 OUR CHURCH AT WORSHIP - December 26, 2021 - First Sunday after Christmas PRELUDE - “Prelude and Fugue in A-Flat Major” – J. S. Bach - Althea Waites (0:00) CALL TO WORSHIP - adapted from Psalm 148 (0:30) Leader: Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise God in the heights! People: Praise the Lord all angels, and all the starry host! Leader: Kings of the earth and all peoples, men and women alike, young and old together! People: Let us praise the name of the Lord, whose glory is above earth and heaven. HYMN #220 - “Angels from the Realms of Glory” - Everyone (1:28) Angels from the realms of glory, wing your flight o’er all the earth; Ye who sang creation’s story now proclaim Messiah’s birth: Come and worship, come and worship, worship Christ, the newborn King. Shepherds, in the field abiding, watching o’er your flocks by night, God with us is now residing; yonder shines the infant light: Come and worship, come and worship, worship Christ, the newborn King. PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND RENEWAL (3:15) Unison: God of love, have mercy upon us as we make our confession. The year you have given us is soon spent, and we remember our intention to see each new day as your gift. Opportunities for love and service slip away. Still, we long to make a difference. Forgive us, and rekindle in our hearts the desire to grow in your love. We pray in Christ’s name. Amen. SILENT PRAYER (4:19) WORDS OF ASSURANCE - Phyllis Sherwood (4:28) CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (4:50) Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty, Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee. Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity! THE LIFE OF THE CHURCH (5:46) THE WORD FOR CHILDREN (11:32) ANTHEM - “Mary Had a Baby” – W. Dawson - Chancel Choir (18:50) PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING AND INTERCESSION - Jonathan Chute (21:04) THE LORD'S PRAYER (26:35) Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. OFFERING OUR GIFTS AND OURSELVES (27:28) OFFERTORY - Althea Waites (28:13) DOXOLOGY #95 - Everyone (28:39) Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him all creatures, here below; Praise him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
