Why Wan Shi Tong Sucks in The Legend of Korra

Wan Shi Tong's voice is eerie and unsettling in Avatar: The Last Airbender, but when he returns in The Legend of Korra, something is different. Here we explore how slight audio differences can change the effect of a character. To achieve this effect, I used Logic Pro and added SilverVerb (reverb to add "library" spaciousness), boosted bass frequencies using Channel EQ, and a pitch shifter down 3 semitones (tucked underneath in a duplicate track) to give his voice the demonic undertone that was key to his scariness on Avatar.
