Keith Jarrett: The Köln Concert Part II c
Original Transcription; Recorded on 9 June 2021; Performed by Balint Balasa; In the words of Keith Jarrett, The Köln Concert was totally improvised, and therefore “it should go as quickly as it comes”. Keith later agreed for an authorised transcription to be published. Every step of the process he personally oversaw. https://en.schott-music.com/shop/the-... Prior to the concert a few things did not go according to the plan; most notably, instead of the requested concert grand, an unsuitable instrument was provided. Against his initial instinct and all the odds, within the last hours Keith Jarrett changed his mind and agreed to perform. From the very first sound the performance was electrifying. It was recorded live and later released as a double album. The Köln Concert was one in the series of Keith’s entirely improvised solo piano performances. He continued to perform improvised live piano performances for the next forty plus years of his career. He is also known for creating music with his European Quartet, his American Trio, Miles Davis, Gary Burton, and for writing orchestral music as well as venturing into the world of classical music — performing Mozart’s double piano concerto with Chick Corea, recording Bach’s Goldberg Variations on the harpsichord, Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1 on the clavichord and later on the piano, and 24 Preludes and Fugues by Shostakovich on the piano. Keith Jarrett has released over 100 albums. The Köln Concert is still the world’s best selling solo jazz album, and the world’s best selling piano album: https://open.spotify.com/album/0I8vpS...
