Putting Faith to Work (3.23.2025)
The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil... You, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:10-13 (abbreviated) Faith is a powerful and essential tool in the hand of every believer. More than mental acceptance, faith impacts the world within us- our thoughts, emotions and rationale. Faith impacts the world and around us - our marriage, family, the communities we intereact with. Faith influences morale. Faith produces tangible results. Powerful faith goes to work. "And what more shall I say? ... through faith they subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens." Hebrews 11:32-35 Works of faith are initiated with prayer. Prayers of Faith infuse labors with the spirit of the kingdom. The gospels give examples of healing, deliverance, salvation, endurance, hope, increase, provision and restoration. And though there are many examples of how faith can work across space and time, we are in an hour now where faith requires hands on... a hand to the plow. "But someone will say, 'You have faith, and I have works.' Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works."
