This prayer is often recited as part of a meditation or spiritual practice, fostering a sense of unconditional love and compassion for all beings, including oneself. Here's a common version of the Metta Prayer: May all beings be happy. May all beings be safe. May all beings be healthy. May all beings live with ease. Practitioners often start by extending these wishes to themselves, then to loved ones, acquaintances, people they have difficulty with, and finally to all beings everywhere. The prayer cultivates empathy, kindness, and a sense of interconnectedness, encouraging us to wish happiness, safety, and peace for all beings in the world.
