Amity United Church of Christ Communion Service, 7:00 PM April 17, 2025, Amity Hall L: We are gathered in the presence of God, who asks us to choose between life and death, between blessing and curse. P: We are gathered like the people of Israel, who were challenged to choose the way of life. L: Like them, we often follow the ways of death. P: Yet, like them, we have the freedom each day to begin anew by the grace of God. L: By our presence here, we are saying that we choose life. All: Let us praise the God of love and life who has called us to this place. Amen. The Call to Worship – Psalm 116:1-2, 12-19, NKJV L: I love the LORD, because He has heard My voice and my supplications. P: Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live. L: What shall I render to the LORD For all His benefits toward me? P: I will take up the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the LORD. L: I will pay my vows to the LORD Now in the presence of all His people. P: Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His saints. L: O LORD, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds. P: I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the LORD. L: I will pay my vows to the LORD Now in the presence of all His people, P: In the courts of the LORD’s house, In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! The Prayer of Confession Forgive us, Father God, because we know all too well what we do! Receive our sins, brought to the cross, and redeem us there. We ask this in the name of the One who chose death rather than betray You. Amen. Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and Earth: And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen
