This was his knock out combo and in this video, I'm going to break down the techniques to throw this combo like Mike If you're familiar with Mike Tyson's fighting style then you'll be familiar with the Peek-a-boo boxing style - Created by Mike Tyson's trainer: Cus D'amato. Now, Cus was very particular on how every punch was to be thrown and wanted everything to be down perfectly. So to really understand Mike Tyson's knockout combo, we have to break it down to 3 specific techniques. The first technique to execute this combination is telegraphing and what telegraphing is in this example is making the uppercut look like it's going to be a hook to the body. Telegraphing can be done with any punch on any hand. you can make a right hook to the body look like a right hook to the body and vice versa. And in this specific combo, this technique came in to play because if you look at the example in the video, you can clearly see that after getting hit with the first body shot Jose Ribalta moves his hand out to block a second body shot but that's when the uppercut sneaks up the middle and drops him The second technique in Mike Tyson's best combo is getting his head outside the opponents shoulder. This is a classic Peek-a-boo boxing technique as the peekaboo style has multiple techniques for getting out to the side of your opponent and the main reason for this is so that you can't be countered. But a secondary reason for this is that once you're in a position where your opponent can't counter you, you're able to throw that punch with everything you've got and not worry about creating openings because you're opponent is unable to counter you. And this is why, in his prime, Tyson was able to load up on many of his punches without being counter punched by his opponents. Now the third technique in this right hook, right uppercut combination is to switch to a south paw stance. And the reason to do this is because from your southpaw stance, you're able to keep your head outside the shoulder while you throw the uppercut, without drifting back in to the counter punching zone of your opponent.
