Sometimes a new $20 speed sensor will fix a blinking OD light and "broken transmission". Sometimes it won't. THIS VIDEO shows changing out the DIFFERENTIAL VSS (non geared, on top of the differential). There is also a TRANSMISSION VSS (geared, side of transmission). Either one can cause these symptoms.
