How to Hold Your Guitar Comfortably: Essential Tips for Beginners ✅Get Lauren's FREE Guitar Crash Course: http://www.laurenbateman.com/crashcourse In this video, I'm going to show you a few different ways to hold your guitar comfortably. I’ve got an acoustic guitar here, but the same tips apply for an electric guitar too. The first way is what I’m demonstrating now, with the guitar resting on my right thigh, as I’m a right-handed player. If you’re left-handed, it would rest on your left thigh. I have my leg elevated using a tripod stool, which I find helps my playing comfort. Some people prefer a footrest, so try different setups to find what works best for you. Now, if your shoulder feels strained, your guitar might be too large. I’m using a Grand Auditorium size, but there are smaller sizes like parlor guitars that may suit smaller players better. The key is finding a size that allows you to play comfortably. Next, we have the classical position, where the neck points upward, reducing wrist strain. This might be ideal if you have wrist issues like carpal tunnel. Ultimately, the goal is to find a comfortable position so you enjoy playing and practicing.
