Pakistan Train Hijack: Rescued Hostages Recount Harrowing Experience Of Pakistan Train Hijacking Pakistan Train Hijack: Hostages who survived being held hostage by separatist militants in Pakistan on a hijacked train recalled their "terrifying" day-long ordeal on Thursday (March 13). "As soon as the explosion happened, armed men stormed the train," said Arslan Yousaf who was one of those rescued. "They had launchers, guns, and other weapons, and they immediately started firing - shooting directly at people. They kept shouting, ‘We will kill anyone who doesn’t come out’." Arsah was among the last remaining hostages freed after Pakistani security forces stormed the train on Wednesday (March 12) and killed all 33 separatist militants, ending a day-long standoff, according to the military. They arrived in the town of Mach in Balochistan province early on Thursday before they were transported under tight security to Quetta where some are receiving medical treatment. "We were attacked near Bolan. Shells hit our train, followed by three hours of gunfire. The attackers forced us off the train and separated us by caste... They tortured the Punjabis the most," said one of the injured hostages Muhammad Tanveer in Quetta. A military spokesperson said no civilians were killed in the final stage of the operation and they had freed "a large number of people". The military reported 21 hostages and four security personnel killed. Government officials had said on Wednesday that 190 of those on board had already been rescued, with more than 50 taken to Quetta to be reunited with their loved ones.
