Know the heart of Jesus Christ. @ThanksYeshu @david
The crucifixion is the moment where Jesus’ love, mercy, and suffering are most vividly revealed. Even as the physical agony of the cross pressed upon Him, the Gospel accounts show that His heart was fully turned toward others: Forgiveness – While the nails were being driven in, Jesus looked at the soldiers and the crowd and prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). In that instant His heart was not filled with bitterness but with compassion for those who were causing His pain. Comfort for the repentant – One of the thieves crucified beside Him asked, “Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered, “Truly, I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:42‑43). Even in the midst of suffering, His heart reached out to give hope. Care for His mother – Seeing Mary at the foot of the cross, Jesus said, “Woman, behold your son,” and to the disciple He said, “Behold your mother” (John 19:26‑27). He was still thinking of the welfare of those He loved. Trust in God’s plan – As darkness fell and He felt the weight of sin, Jesus cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). This cry shows the depth of His anguish, yet it ends with a surrender: “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit” (Luke 23:46). Physical proof of love – After He died, a soldier pierced His side, and “blood and water came out” (John 19:34). The water is understood by many as a symbol of the Holy Spirit, showing that even in death His heart was the source of life for us. All of these moments together paint a picture of a heart that, though broken by the cross, overflowed with love, forgiveness, compassion, and obedience. The crucifixion is not just an event of suffering; it is the ultimate expression of Jesus’ heart—willing to bear the weight of humanity so that we might be restored.
