"Human Rights as a Western Plaything"

"Human Rights as a Western Plaything"

"Bugger off if you don't like 'our' Western values" Its a phrase used by many opionleaders and politicians towards people who don't respect freedom of speech, freedom of press or the rights of women. Is it too strong to say 'bugger off!'? No, its not strong enough! This freethoughtvlog is about ‘The Right to Change Your Mind’. This right seems to run counter to a lot of religious believes. Humanist Boris van der Ham reads the Bible and the Quran as a piece of historical literature, and thinks of 'God' as a rather rough figure. This vlog, tries to find some rare examples of doubt in both the Bible and the Islamic Hadith. Can a man contradict the 'all-knowing' and is the 'almighty' able to change his mind? Since 2010 Boris Van der Ham (writer, former MP, and currently chairman of the Dutch Humanist Alliance) is sharing his free thoughts in his 'freethinking video blog' on YouTube. Some are in Dutch, some are in English. They are about freethinking, history, humanism, science and art. In 2015 he made the documentary 'Among Nonbelievers' on atheism in the Islamic world: www.amongnonbelievers.org (English version).
