What is The Gay Male Accent? (And Do I Have It?)

It is said that we can find out if a man is homosexual just by listening to his voice? Does that then mean that a "gay male accent" exists? Well, kinda. "Gay Male Speech" has been studied in linguistics for over thirty years, but we are not any closer to understanding it now than we were thirty years ago. While the stereotype of a high-pitched and flamboyant voice with a lisp exists, we don't see that with all gay males.
