A remake of RE2 was released in 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and in 2022 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. The franchise has spawned fifteen "mainline" games as well as thirteen spinoffs. Outside of games, Resident Evil has been adapted into seven feature films, animated films and series, a live-action series, novels, comics and even plays. The version of the game played here is the 2006 SourceNext PC port of classic Resident Evil 2. It has been updated to play on modern computer hardware using the Resident Evil 2 Classic REbirth mod. This playthrough is being completed using both Leon and Claire as the player characters. Two months after the events of Resident Evil, the zombie apocalypse continues.
