Delicious Buttermilk, fruit scones made with homemade butter/buttermilk made in my previous video! In this video I show you how to make delicious buttermilk scones using butter and buttermilk that I made in my previous video. 10 minutes of preparation and baked for 15 minutes, these scones are delicious with butter, clotted cream and strawberry jam! Swap the fruit for grated cheddar cheese, and also sprinkle some cheddar on top before baking for a delicious savory alternative. Enjoy! Ingredients ----------- 500g plain/all purpose flour 120g chilled butter 240ml Buttermilk 2 x tbsp baking powder 2 x tbsp sugar 1 x tsp salt Small amount of milk for brushing on the tops before baking Method ------ 1. Add the butter to the flour and mix in with hands and fingers to a breadcrumb consistency. 2. Add the rest of the dry ingredients and mix well with a wooden spoon. 3. Add the buttermilk and mix in with a wooden spoon to create a sticky dough. 4. Add fruit or cheddar cheese if required and mix in sufficiently. 5. Place the dough onto a well floured surface and coat. Roll out to around half inch thick rectangle. 6. Fold over twice and leave to rest for a couple of minutes. 7. Roll out to around 3/4 inch thick rectangle. 8. Use a cutter to cut around 10-12 scones (depending on cutter size). 9. Place on a non-stick covered baking tray with gaps around them and coat in milk or buttermilk with a brush. 10. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius for around 15 minutes, turning the tray around halfway through cooking. If the scones do not have enough color, turn the heat up at the end to 180/190 degrees Celsius and give them a few more minutes.
