Membership cut-off dates loom for both parties

VICTORIA - As leadership candidates on both sides of the political spectrum get back into the swing of things this January, they're fighting a looming deadline: the deadlines their parties have set to finish signing up new members. Beyond rallies and campaign coverage, the real currency for NDP and Liberal leadership candidates is membership. Each form represents someone who's joined the party and will hopefully vote for their favourite. Volunteers say their campaigns will be won or lost on the success of their membership drives. BC NDP leadership candidates have until January 17 until the sign-up cut-off. BC Liberal leadership candidates have until February 4.
