
French Canadian Shepherd’s Pie - Pâté Chinois - Cheap and Low Calorie Recipe (with macros!)
Hey, me again! Today I'll be making one of the most popular french Canadian dishes (no not poutine! lol), it's our twist on classic Shepherd's pie. Super quick and easy, tasty, pretty low in calories and ultimate comfort food. It also happens to be one of my girl's favourite meals. :) Here's what you will need: French Canadian Shepherd’s Pie Makes 4 servings of 1/4 of an 8x8 pan. For the mashed potatoes: 28 ounces of cut potatoes (about 5 cups) 3 Tablespoons margarine 1/3 cup of 2% or low fat milk 1/2 tsp each of salt, onion powder and parsley For the meat layer: 1lb of extra lean ground beef (170 cals per serving) 1.5 cups corn (canned or cooked from frozen) 1 small onion 1/2 tsp salt, onion powder, garlic and herb seasoning 1/4 tsp black pepper 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce Instructions: Boil your potatoes until tender or cook them in the instant pot with enough water to cover them, on high for 8 minutes then drain. Add margarine, milk, seasonings and mash. Cook your ground beef with seasonings then add onion and cook until tender. Add corn, mix and put in a 8x8 pan. Top with mashed potatoes. Bake at 375 for 20-25mins.
