Pokemon Black and White's HUGE Version Disparity

my sister and I got Pokemon Black and Pokemon White as kids, with me getting black and her getting white. When we hit the postgame, I could not believe the advantage she had over me with the Pokemon in White Forest. She had porygon, hoppip, lotad- all these beautiful creatures over me.
