John 2:1-11 Bash Children's Sermon Water Into Juice. Things Don't Have To Make Sense John 2 1 11 Children's Sermon Script For Two Kids Beckett and Asher are sitting at a table with a cup of water in front of each of them. Beckett: It is Beckett Asher: And Asher with your children’s sermon Beckett: Behold! A cup of water! Asher: Ohhhhhhhh! Beckett: We are going to turn this water into juice. Asher: Juice is a lot more exciting than water. Beckett: Agreed. But in today’s reading, Jesus turned water into wine. Asher: We’d get in big trouble if mom and dad caught us drinking a bunch of wine, even if it was a miracle. Beckett: Which is why we went for juice. Asher: I’m sure it’ll be delicious. Beckett: It will be juice from heaven, it will have to be good. Asher: Now you’ve got me really excited! What do we do? They both look at the water. Beckett: I have no idea. Jesus just tells them to fill up some jars with water. Asher: Done. Beckett: And then he tells them to draw some out and drink it… and it is wine… or in our case, juice. Asher sips his water: Still water. Lukewarm water. Beckett tries his water: Mine is still water too. Asher: This miracle doesn’t make any sense. He doesn’t use any magic words. He doesn’t have a wand. Beckett: True, and we don’t hear about any fancy hand movements. Asher: Magic tricks definitely involve waving your hands around. Beckett: If it doesn’t make sense, do you think it didn’t happen? Asher: Why would you say that? Beckett: Because it doesn’t make sense? Asher: It doesn’t make sense to us, but it makes sense to God. God saw a party ending before it was supposed to end, and he decided those good people deserved to keep partying. It doesn’t have to make sense to us, all that matters is that it makes sense to God and God has the power to do it. Beckett: I still wish this had turned into juice. Asher: I bet if we tell mom and dad that we were trying to do a Jesus miracle and make juice we can guilt them into giving us some juice. Beckett: That is a great idea. That’s it for today’s children’s sermon. Asher: Amen! Beckett and Asher: Mom! Dad! Contact us at [email protected]
