Can solar panels beat nuclear power plants?
I use Stefan-Boltzmann's law and basic geometry to calculate the rate of energy we receive from the sun, which puts a limit to how much energy we can get from solar panels. Welcome to my first video. I hope you enjoyed watching. Your feedback is welcome. The type of radiation mentioned is called black-body radiation. This isn't the only way a body can produce light. A blue flame isn't hotter than the sun even though blue stars are hotter than white stars. We can use our own eyes to infer the temperature only when the light produced is purely from black-body radiation. Otherwise, we might need something better, such as a spectrometer or a thermal camera.
