Russia suspending nuclear treaty was ‘inevitable’
Russia suspending the nuclear arms reduction treaty with the United States was “inevitable” as President Vladimir Putin invests in more exotic weapons technology, according to former ASPI executive director Peter Jennings. “Putin doesn’t want to be constrained by arms control agreements,” he told Sky News host Sharri Markson. “I think his speech is really just a vehicle to say ‘that’s something we are moving from now’ and to blame the West and continue to do what he wants to do.”
