1994 R1G6 Calgary Flames vs Vancouver Canucks. (Pavel Bure vs Theoren Fleury). HD-See note on Game 7

Game 6. April 28, 1994, in Vancouver. An excellent classic battle between Division rivals Calgary and Vancouver. Features Pavel Bure and Theoren Fleury in their prime. The NHL itself has copyright claimed two specific portions of game 7, the overtime winning goal (considered a great moment in NHL history), and also, strangely, about 12 minutes of late game action but not right at the end. The 12 minutes of overtime is outright blocked by the NHL, so it cannot be included, at least not now. The thing is, if you delete the 12 minutes they want to block, they just claim another 12 minutes, so you cannot post the game at all it seems. I am contesting this as according to international copyright broadcast sports games only have copyright protection for 20 years, which would make the NHL blocking these public domain games a form of legal harassment. But who has the time/money to contest it? In any case, I will get up as much of game 7 as I can, but at this time it appears I will either not be able to post it at all OR I will only be able to post it without the final overtime period. It makes little sense since the league is not making these games available themselves and they could easily without contestation monetize the videos I post, thus they make money but I would not. I don;t care. I do not want to monetize their videos. If people support me it is for the work I do transferring the games. Please keep in mind we are capturing video tapes that were recorded from a signal that sends a maximum of 240-480 lines from top to bottom. That signal is being capture at its original quality (because there is no option) and put onto modern televisions that have over 2000 lines from top to bottom, five times or more as much screen to fill, that is why the quality is always a struggle. We have done the best we can to get as good a quality as possible. Maybe one day the NHL will work with us and we can capture from original studio large format masters which offer higher resolution. Please, if you have old video tapes 25+ years old of hockey games and you want to capture them or donate to be captured, please let us know. Help the history archive: This is another VHS to digital transfer. Quality varies depending on the source tape. We have the best capture equipment available, but if the VHS video tape original has deteriorated and otherwise suffered from the effects of age there is not much we can do. Also, in video tape era people had a choice of three recording speeds, SP (the best and typically 120 minutes per tape), LP (a middle quality usually allowing 240 minutes per tape) , and EP or SLP (a low quality that allowed you to record 6 hours on a tape). For reasons related to cost as well as convenience, most of the games we find recorded to VHS are in either LP or EP/SLP mode, meaning they are not top quality. SP recordings are rare, but the speed of the recording is important in terms of the quality of the video. We are dedicated to bringing all fans the highest quality transfers available and our playlists, all with a "no spoiler" policy when we are in control. The "no spoiler" policy basically is that when we are in control (which we are not always in our playlists), we do not spoil the game ahead of time by telling you or reminding you of what happened in the game and the score. Many of these old games can be watched like new games if you do not know or have forgotten how the game ended, so we are opposed to people who post old games with the final score in the description because it ruins it. Anyway, if you want to help the archive by acquiring and transferring old hockey games, or by sending us your old video tapes so we can transfer them, let us know. If you want to help with the financial and time cost involved, you can go to our Patreon account (Located at this link:   / free_minds   ) and give as little as a dollar,. We make no money posting these videos or organizing them on Youtube as the copyright for old games belongs to the NHL who are woefully derelict in making their archives available to the public, but because they own the rights they typically will monetize our posts and make sure they are paid for ads etc and not us. So unless you send us donations via Patreon we get nothing. If you cannot afford to chip in a dollar, no problem, we believe these old games should be a public heritage that all can tap into. Thanks for your support and attention and PLEASE subscribe to our channel and like our videos as it helps and costs you nothing.
