The crappy US healthcare system and INSURANCE industry is currently a hot topic. Human healthcare should not be a for-profit enterprise. There are so many stories of how people are struggling, so many cases of medical bankruptcies, and lack of access. Because the primary US based system is rooted to our jobs/employer discretion, it stifles our ability to make our own decisions. We become indentured to the whims of an employer. My story doesn't compare to the extremes, but all stories are worth sharing. Especially as I made the decision to walk away from a career where I had health insurance - tied to the position. You'll hear about some of the challenges I've faced with medical situations related to insurance tied to my jobs. You'll hear about an experience in another country compared to the same medical situation once I returned home. This system stifles us as individuals from pursuing our dreams.
