Saint Luke's Lutheran Church NYC - The Second Sunday of Easter (27 April 2025)

Saint Luke's Lutheran Church NYC - The Second Sunday of Easter (27 April 2025)

This week, the fabulous ✨Deacon Bob✨ talked about "Doubting Thomas" in sermon at our 11 AM Worship Service: "But Thomas ... was not with [the other disciples] when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe." (John 20:24-25) Doubt, uncertainty, skepticism, disbelief, confusion, hesitancy, cynicism - these are all emotions - valid emotions - that we feel, especially in difficult times. But the story of "Doubting Thomas" is not a negative one: despite his doubts, Jesus answers Thomas with love and acceptance, leading Thomas to proclaim, "My Lord and my God!" As ✨Deacon Bob✨ explains, doubt and belief are not opposites; but two sides of the same coin - leave a comment below and let us know what you think or when you've felt this way too!
