Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost – August, 21, 2022
Rev. Eric Sherlock preaching from Luke 13:10-17 Music by John Kendall Bailey and Gabrielle Goozée-Nichols In Sunday's Gospel lesson, Jesus shares his understanding of Sabbath—Sabbath as a time of freedom from bondage. For many of us Christians, we usually think of Sabbath as a Jewish observance. But Sabbath time is just as important for our spiritual lives as it is for our Jewish siblings. So many different obstacles and challenges in this life bind us and keep hold of us, but only one thing sets us free. Practicing Sabbath as a spiritual practice helps us lean into the freedom found in our spirituality and relationships with God and gain greater awareness and perspective of how we want to live this precious life we have been given. I hope you will join me Sunday as we practice Sabbath-keeping.
