Super Adventure Island, SNES Wiki S01E04/20

Every other Saturday, I'll be featuring a Super Nintendo game from my collection! Higgins is back in action on the Super Nintendo! This time, while he was peacefully canoodling with his girlfriend Tina on the beach, she's turned to stone by an evil wizard! Vengeance! Justice! Higgins sets off on an adventure practically naked through five increasingly difficult levels to take down strange creatures and, above all, the wizard! He can pick up a tomahawk or a boomerang and rely on his incredible vertical leap, worthy of the NBA, to overcome all obstacles and complete his quest! The levels are very short and packed with bonuses, including hidden stages where the goal is to collect all the items scattered among trampolines. Original! The game's challenge lies in managing your jumps and the limited number of shots you can take at a time. The super jump, performed by pressing "down and b" simultaneously, is rather counterintuitive but not insurmountable. Each boss requires a different strategy and has relatively few hit points, making them quite manageable. Special mention goes to the final boss, whom you absolutely must not attack. In short, the game is short but intense; two starting lives and two continues can quickly cut the playthrough short.
