May: 'I don't accept terms hard or soft Brexit'

(9 Jan 2017) British Prime Minister Theresa May on Monday denied setting Britain on the road to a "hard Brexit", but said her government was aiming for "(an) ambitious, good, best-possible deal for Britain." Her comments come a day after she signalled that the UK was likely to leave the bloc's single market, telling Sky News on Sunday that Britain won't try to keep "bits of membership" once it leaves. The British pound dropped one cent against the dollar to 1.21 US dollars after the interview over the weekend, and is now at its lowest level since October 2016.
