#33 The Last of Us Part II - Chapter 7: Seattle Day 2 (Abby) - The Shortcut
The Last of Us Part II is a horror-survival game developed by Naughty Dog as a sequel to the renowned The Last of Us Part I. At the start of the game, the game shows Joel and Ellie are living peacefully (but separately) in Jackson after the events of the first game. Jumpstart to five years after, it will be shown that a distance occurred between the two (2) characters which mysteries will be told throughout the story. Certain conflicts will then occur by the sudden attack of a group that would result to the death of great importance that will then lead to a story of revenge between two (2) characters which will be the centerpiece of the story. A game which received critical acclaim among critics and received a Metacritic average score of 93 and 180 GOTY awards (GAME OF THE YEAR PICKS BLOG (gotypicks.blogspot.com)) Among various award shows and gaming media. Notably, the game received an opposite feedback from gaming fans resulting in its user Metacritic reviews to have a 5.7 score from more than 150,000 players who voted. Based on the overall reception, praises were given on its acting, cinematography, graphics, details, animation, and improvements in its gameplay. However, the reception on its story were divisive in which the other one found the story unique as it subverted expectations while the other side found it terrible for being illogical and disrespected much of its characters to highlight the main character’s convictions. As for me, unlike what many critics say. I found this game awful and is a very much inferior game compared to the first game. I don’t like how the story turned out. It is downright awful and stupid. First, I hated the disrespect they did to a character which I believed one of the biggest reasons why the franchise was even known and is famous. Next, a lot of the characters in-game turned out to be mere fodders to push some very specific (some are stupid and predictable) narratives right to your face. I also did not like the pacing of the game, you kept jumping from an action filled part into a flashback then back to the game then another flashback. Although I would agree that everything else was an improvement from the gameplay up to the graphics. I was still disappointed since the game’s biggest strength is in its story which I found really disappointing. Thus, I don’t think it deserved all the awards it received and even then, I think it just got it since it had no real competition during the year it released. They say it’s 10/10? Nah. My score for this game after getting its platinum and playing it on Survival and Grounded is 6/10. The first game is the REAL 10/10. Still, enjoy the walkthrough!!!
