Hike and Ashy D1 Strategy - Full | Trading Highlights

STRATEGY In this strategy we’ll be using two market filters to try and make sure we only get on the true moves. So let’s talk about the first one first, the smoothed moving average. With this indicator we will be using a 300 period input which gives a pretty long term view of the market. When price is above the moving average we’ll only be taking buy trades, and when price is below the average we’ll only be in sell trades. As an extra layer of filter we then use the awesome oscillator zero line crossover. If the histogram has a value closed above 0 then we will only enter buy trades, but if it has a value closed below 0 then we will only enter sell trades. So we need both of these filters matching for us to even consider our main entry signal. Our main entry signal will be the Heikin-Ashi candles which are going to replace the traditional Japanese candlesticks on our price chart. For up candles we’ll be using the colour blue and for the down candles we’ll be going orange. We’ll enter a buy trade for the first blue candle in a pattern, and enter a sell trade for the first orange candle in the pattern. When we enter a trade we’ll be splitting it into three sub-trades and using the average true range (ATR) indicator to assist in measuring our risk. Sub-trade A will have a stop loss and take profit both set at 1x ATR value from the entry price. Sub-trade B will have a stop loss at 1x ATR value from the entry price but with a cheeky take profit value of 2x ATR value, twice the reward than the risk. Sub-trade C will have a trailing stop loss which will start 1x the ATR value back from our entry price, no take profit required makes infinite reward than the risk.
