On the 3rd Sunday of Advent, Rev. Brian Hamilton reminds us that the birth of Jesus happened within a very real context. The announcement was shared first with shepherds and herdsmen, with anxious mothers and fathers, with priests and prophets alike. The message affirmed that life was to spring forth from dry places that expected no relief, from barren people and imaginations that had no hope. The gift of this new life promised joy and gladness to all. And such gladness is truly deepened when the message is more broadly distributed and shared with ever more expectant hearts.
