GeogLive! 23 Great KS1 Geography

Join Dr Emma Till, the ITE geography subject lead at the University of Winchester will be joined by two of her undergraduate students Amelia and Lorna to talk about some work that they completed with Year 1 pupils looking at the Arctic Region. The work was part of a themed day and was done in two different schools. The session will include reflections on what went well but also what the trainees might do differently if they were to undertake the work again with advice for organising similar geographical themed days. Also hear from Emma, a Year 2 teacher from London, who will describe her use of what is on her doorstep to link to physical features near and far. The session will also focus on the importance of big concepts, developing learners' geographical imaginations through multiple representations and gathering data through fieldwork.
