Episode 114: Norse Myths, Legends, and Folktales | Three Billy Goats Gruff
Welcome to Norse Myths, Legends, and Folktales, where MyLinda Butterworth of Totally Stories interprets the written word for your listening pleasure. Today we we hear the story of how three hungry billy goats trick a troll into letting them cross the bridge to eat the sweet grass in “The Three Billy Goats Gruff,” a favorite Norwegian Folktale. Up on the hillside in Norway, there lived three Billy Goats. They needed to get to the other side of the bridge so they could eat the nice, thick, sweet grass so they could grow bigger and fatter, but there was a mean troll who lived under the bridge. They decided that they would go over the bridge one at a time, with the little billy goat going first. As the littlest billy goat began to cross, the nasty troll approached him and said he would eat him, but the little billy goat convinced him that he was to little to provide much of a meal, so he let him cross. What would happen to the next two billy goats, and would they make it past the mean troll. Listen in to hear the whole story.
