Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand says she couldn’t support Al Franken after sexual assault allegations

During a Washington Post Live interview, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand commented on former Senator Al Franken’s resignation and her calls for him to leave the Senate following allegations of sexual harassment and assault. ‘I couldn’t defend unwanted groping and forcible kissing, and I decided that I had to say I couldn’t support it anymore and I couldn’t support him.’ When asked if she would support a political comeback by Sen. Franken, Gillibrand said, “There is always room for redemption of anybody. I don’t know why this conversation is so difficult. Anyone who wants a second chance, it’s always there for everyone.’
