On this thirteenth day of Great Lent, we reflect on the story of the rich young ruler and Jesus' call to true richness—not in material wealth, but in spiritual abundance, generosity, and surrender. 📖 Reflections from Luke 18:18-30: 💰 Wealth is Not Just Material but Spiritual The rich young ruler approached Jesus thinking he was already enriched—he had wealth, status, and followed the commandments. Yet, Jesus exposed the illusion of his riches. He was materially rich but spiritually poor because his heart was bound to his possessions. 🤲 Giving is Greater Than Having Jesus told the ruler to sell all he had and give to the poor. This was not just about money, but about trusting God over worldly security. True richness is found in enriching others. ⚠️ Attachment to Wealth Can Be a Barrier Jesus’ words, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God”, remind us that wealth can create a false sense of security. When we cling too tightly to possessions, pride, or control, we resist surrendering fully to God. 💭 Lenten Reflection: Are we holding onto wealth, pride, or grudges that prevent spiritual growth? Do we trust in material security, or do we trust in God’s eternal rewards? Are we investing not just in ourselves, but in relationships and in God’s kingdom? ✝️ Eternal Rewards Exceed Earthly Wealth Jesus assures us that what we surrender for His sake is never lost—but returned in abundance.
