Blood is Thicker Than 'Shine is the first Moonshiner story mission featured in Red Dead Online. Lem is being transported to Sisika Penitentiary. Ambush the convoy, break Lem out, and get him back to Maggie. In order to find out the location of a prisoner transfer, the protagonist heads to a lawmen's camp near the Brush Fire in The Heartlands of New Hanover. After taking out the lawmen, the player is required to take a document revealing the location of the transfer. Afterward, they can also free Stan Reardon, who is captured inside a prison wagon. Upon arriving at the transfer point, the player has to attack the convoy when it passes through to free Lem. Afterward, they have to take him to their moonshine shack. At the end of the mission, a flashback is seen in which Lem tells about the events in 1892, when he was captured by Revenue Agents and his aunt was burned alive by order of Reid Hixon. The title "Blood is Thicker Than 'Shine" is a pun on the proverb, "blood is thicker than water", which is a meaning that familial bonds will always be stronger than bonds of friendship or love. A Life of 'Shine (Story Missions): A Life of 'Shine is a story campaign added in the Moonshiners DLC. It spans 5 story missions and 2 intro missions.
