It has only taken 10 years for me to finally get to your questions on this subject! So many questions; so many urban myths. The classic question has been: "What exactly is sewing machine oil?" And even more questions: Should I use Tri Flow brand oil? Is 'synthetic' sewing machine oil better? Is sewing machine oil marketed as 'For Vintage Sewing Machines' a better? What is the best brand of sewing machine oil? Do I need to find sewing machine oil that is the same brand as my machine? Here, I share my thoughts as a sewing machine restorer with over 12 years of experience with a broad variety of vintage sewing machine repair & conservation. After making hundreds of videos on a myriad of topics, I finally share my perspective on what may appear to be a complicated question. Good minds can always differ so please share your comments! NOTE: Of all the oils you see here, I suggest you purchase a small bottle of oil labeled as , "Sewing Machine Oil". If that is tough for you to find in your area, then it's perfectly fine to substitute it with 'Light Mineral Oil' found in the drug store in the skin products section.
